Haas Mill · G-code
G03 Circular Interpolation Counter-Clockwise
Cuts a counter-clockwise arc using R or I, J, K. The mirror image of G02.
What G03 does on a Haas mill
G03 is identical to G02 except for direction: the tool travels counter-clockwise when viewed from above in the G17 XY plane.
With climb milling on the outside of a part the tool usually travels clockwise around the profile, which means most outside corners are G02 and most inside pockets are G03. When in doubt, sketch it.
G03 format
| Address | Meaning |
|---|---|
X Y Z | Arc end point |
R | Arc radius |
I J K | Incremental distance from start point to centre |
F | Feed rate |
G03 example program
G01 X2. Y0. F20.
G03 X3. Y1. R1. (CCW quarter arc)
G03 I-1. J0. (full CCW circle)⚠ Watch out
Changing planes (G18/G19) changes what "clockwise" means. In G18 the view is along Y, so arcs can look reversed compared to what you expect.
