Haas Mill · G-code
G04 Dwell
Pauses axis motion for a set time with P. Used to clean up the bottom of a hole or let coolant or a spindle catch up.
What G04 does on a Haas mill
G04 stops axis motion for the time given in P. The spindle and coolant keep running. It is non-modal, so it only affects the line it is on.
Short dwells are common at the bottom of counterbores and spot drills (though G82 does this for you), after an M-code that needs a moment to take effect, or to break a chip on a lathe.
