Haas Mill · G-code
G01 Linear Interpolation (Feed Move)
Cuts in a straight line at the programmed feed rate F. The workhorse code for profiling, facing and plunging.
What G01 does on a Haas mill
G01 moves the tool in a straight line from the current position to the commanded point at feed rate F. All axes start and finish together, so the path is a true straight line, unlike G00.
F is modal, so it only needs to be given once and then whenever it changes. In G94 (the normal mill mode) F is inches or millimetres per minute. Haas G01 also accepts ,C (chamfer) and ,R (corner radius) to blend a corner between two G01 moves on supported controls.
G01 format
| Address | Meaning |
|---|---|
X Y Z | End point |
F | Feed rate (per minute in G94) |
,C / ,R | Optional chamfer or corner radius between two G01 moves |
G01 example program
G01 Z-0.25 F10. (plunge at 10 IPM)
G01 X3. F25. (cut along X at 25 IPM)
Y2. ,R0.25 (next move with a 0.25 corner radius)
X0.⚠ Watch out
A G01 with no F active will alarm. A typo like F250. instead of F25. will not alarm — it will crash. Read your feeds out loud during prove-out.

G01 questions
Do I need F on every G01 line?
No. F is modal. Give it once and repeat only when the feed changes.
What does ,R do in a Haas G01 line?
It inserts a corner radius between this G01 move and the next one, so you do not need to calculate the arc yourself.
