Haas Mill · G-code
G42 Cutter Compensation Right
Offsets the tool to the right of the programmed path by the D value. Conventional milling with a right-hand cutter.
What G42 does on a Haas mill
G42 is the mirror of G41: the tool centre is offset to the right of the programmed path, looking in the direction of travel.
It is used when conventional milling is preferred — for example on some cast or scaled surfaces — or when the path is programmed in the opposite direction.

Swapping G41 for G42 without reversing the path puts the tool on the wrong side of the line — straight into the part.
