Haas Lathe · G-code
G74 End Face Grooving / Peck Drilling
Pecks along Z. On centre it is a peck drilling cycle; with X and I it cuts face grooves.
What G74 does on a Haas lathe
G74 feeds in Z by K, retracts slightly to break the chip, and continues to the Z depth. With no X movement it peck-drills on centre.
Add an X end point and an I step and it cuts a series of face grooves, stepping across in X between plunges.

On a face groove the tool width must be accounted for in X. Programming the groove centre instead of the tool reference edge cuts the groove too wide or in the wrong place.
