Haas Mill · G-code
G54 Work Coordinate System #1
Selects work offset #1 so program zero is where you set it on the part. G54–G59, then G154 P1–P99 for more.
What G54 does on a Haas mill
Work offsets tell the control where your part zero is relative to machine home. G54 is the first and most used; G55 to G59 select offsets 2 to 6.
For more fixtures, Haas provides G154 P1 to P99 (also addressable as G110–G129 for the first twenty). Each is a separate set of X, Y, Z and rotary values on the work offset page.
G54 format
| Address | Meaning |
|---|---|
G54–G59 | Work offsets 1–6 |
G154 P1–P99 | Extended work offsets |
G54 example program
G00 G90 G54 X0. Y0. (part 1)
...
G00 G90 G55 X0. Y0. (part 2 on the second vise)⚠ Watch out
A blank work offset is all zeros, which means machine home. Calling an offset you forgot to set sends the tool towards the corner of travel at rapid.
