Haas Lathe · G-code
G92 Threading Cycle, Single Pass
Cuts one threading pass per line. You control every pass depth by writing the X values yourself.
What G92 does on a Haas lathe
G92 is modal: each line with a new X value cuts another pass at the lead F, retracting and returning to the start point automatically.
It is more typing than G76 but gives full control of each pass, which some machinists prefer for unusual forms or very fine finishes.
G92 format
| Address | Meaning |
|---|---|
X | Diameter for this pass |
Z | Thread end |
F | Lead |
I | Taper (radius) |

On a Haas lathe G92 is a threading cycle, not "set work coordinate" as on a mill. Mixing up the two from different manuals is a common beginner error.

G92 questions
What is the difference between G76 and G92?
G76 calculates all the passes from one line. G92 cuts one pass per line and you write each depth.
