Haas Lathe · G-code
G72 End Face Stock Removal Cycle
Roughs a profile in X-direction (facing) passes. Use when the part is shorter and wider — shoulders and faces.
What G72 does on a Haas lathe
G72 works like G71 but the passes run along X instead of Z, so it is efficient on parts with large face steps and short lengths.
The profile between P and Q is still the finished contour, and G70 finishes it the same way.
G72 format
| Address | Meaning |
|---|---|
P Q | First / last profile blocks |
U W | X / Z finish allowance |
D | Depth of cut per pass (Z) |

The profile direction matters: G72 expects the contour to be written from the outside diameter towards centre. A G71-style profile fed to G72 will alarm or cut oddly.
