Haas Lathe · G-code
G70 Finishing Cycle
Runs the profile between blocks P and Q once, at finish size. Used after G71, G72 or G73 roughing.
What G70 does on a Haas lathe
G70 follows the contour defined between the P and Q block numbers, the same blocks used by the roughing cycle, and cuts it to final size. Feed and speed written inside the P–Q blocks are used during G70.
It is common to rough with one tool using G71 and then call a finishing tool, turn on tool nose comp and run G70 with the same P and Q.
G70 format
| Address | Meaning |
|---|---|
P | First block number of the profile |
Q | Last block number of the profile |
G70 example program
G71 P1 Q2 U0.02 W0.005 D0.1 F0.012
...tool change...
G42 (tool nose comp on)
G70 P1 Q2
G40⚠ Watch out
G70 only works when the P–Q blocks are in the same program and numbered correctly. Renumbering blocks after the fact breaks both the roughing and finishing cycles.

G70 questions
Can G70 use a different feed than G71?
Yes. G70 uses the F values written inside the P–Q profile blocks.
